Eric Bailly rules out any chance of leaving Manchester United

The defender has been linked with a summer move in recent months

Eric Bailly joined Manchester United from Villareal for a reported fee of £30 million, signing a four-year contract with the option of an additional two in 2016. Since then he has been an integral part of the team and established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League.

The 24 year old impressed during his debut season with the Red Devils, featuring regularly for the club and helping them to win the League Cup and Europa League.

The Ivory Coast started this season brightly but an untimely injury picked in November kept him sidelined for three months. Since then he has struggled for regular game time as Jose Mourinho offered more minutes to those heading to World Cup.

The 2017-2018 campaign proved to be a frustrating one for the defender, as he managed to make only 18 appearances and recent absence led to speculations that he could be up for a summer move.

But Bailly has dismissed all the speculations around him and claimed that he would come back much stronger next season.

He wrote on Instagram: “We would have liked to have finished the season by winning the FA Cup. Unfortunately, it was not to be.

“Nevertheless, we’ve wrapped up a season in which there were ups and downs. Now it’s time to stop, to learn from this season, to rest, and to enjoy our families and friends so we can come back next season even stronger.

“We’re eager to set new goals and to see lots of smiles in the stands at Old Trafford next year.

“Thanks for the support you have given the entire team throughout the season. And especially, thank you very much for the love you have always shown me. Let’s go United!

“And good luck to my teammates who are playing in the World Cup!”
