Huge Setback For Manchester United As Star Forward Set To Miss Up To Eight Weeks

Alexis Sanchez could miss up to eight weeks after damaging his ligament, Chile national team doctor Pedro Onate has confirmed.

Sanchez started in Manchester United‘s 3-2 win over Southampton match but hobbled off the pitch in the second half. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted the player will undergo scans although the club hasn’t made any comment on his injury.

Onate has claimed the former Barcelona forward has medial ligament distension in his right leg and needs a long time to recover from the injury

Much had been expected from the Chilean international following his arrival from Arsenal which also saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving the opposite direction. But the Chilean international has failed to hit the ground and persistent injury problems have also contributed to his failure.

With United set to take on Paris Saint Germain in a do or die clash the United manager won’t have the service of Sanchez. He is also set to miss this Sunday’s trip to Emirates as the Red Devils are scheduled to entertain Arsenal which could virtually decide their top four hopes.

A win for United would see them four points clear of the Gunners while a victory for Unai Emery’s side would help them break into the top four leapfrogging United.
