A report from German news publication, BILD claims that Manchester United held talks with Jadon Sancho’s agent, Emeka Obasi over a potential move to Old Trafford this summer.
Plenty of reports have emerged in the past two weeks about United’s rising interest in the Borussia Dortmund winger, some even claiming that the Red Devils were looking to spend their transfer budget on the youngster.
However, the same news has not been echoed from news outlets in Germany, the ones covering the Bundesliga specifically.
BVB’s sporting director, Michael Zorc told Bild, “I have no knowledge of it, but it has no relevance!”
Sancho’s contract with the Bundesliga outfit is set to last till the summer of 2022 with no apparent release clause. Should Ed Woodward come forward with an offer, Dortmund have the right to reject it unless their demands are met.
It has become common knowledge at this point that the Red Devils are targeting a centre-back this summer but questions remain on how much they are actually willing to spend.
Bringing in world-class names like Harry Maguire or Kalidou Koulibaly could cost around €100m which could shift the momentum against the signing of Sancho. Is it going to turn into a question of either or?
Firstly, United might have to make the decision of keeping Ole Gunner Solskjaer beyond the 2018/19 season.
