Manchester United have received a huge boost in their chase for Juventus full-back, Joao Cancelo.
Latest reports state that the Serie A champions are open to the idea of selling the Portuguese international at the right price. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be responsible for a major upgrade of the Manchester United ranks and will be backed by Ed Woodward and the club’s ownership.
The Red Devils backline is of great concern after the season they just endured. Antonio Valencia is on his way out of Old Trafford and Ashley Young was always going to be a makeshift option.
Cancelo has emerged as a top-pedigree right-back after his transfer from Valencia for £35m. United are reportedly preparing an initial offer worth £42m but Juventus are holding out for something closer to £52m.
The Bianconeri would happily pocket the transfer fee if United match their valuation. Cancelo does not get along with Massimiliano Allegri and would not mind a move out of Turin.
The question lies in whether he would agree to play Champions League football next season. United are confident of attracting top stars this summers even without the promise of the elite European competition.
