Manchester United Dealt A Major Blow In Pursuit Of Portuguese Wonderkid

Benfica have made it clear they won’t let Joao Felix leave the club if any club refuses to meet his release clause.

The forward has had a sensational season for the Portuguese club and his form hasn’t gone unnoticed as a number of clubs including Manchester United and Manchester City are believed to be interested in the player.

Any interested party needs to splash a whopping £105m to acquire his service but United are not ready to meet the price slapped on the player. The Red Devils are expected to undergo a squad overhaul in the summer and Felix could be one of the many arrivals.

Benfica executive manager Domingos Soares de Oliveira said, “The goal is to keep the squad. If someone hits 100 million for Felix, the intention is not to sell.

“100 million is a lot of money, there has never been a player sold for that amount in Portugal, but the goal is to win on the pitch and we will do everything in that direction. Today, if they do not beat the 120 million, the player stays.”

“I think the president still has the intention of reviewing, but on the other side there is the player, the entrepreneur, the family. What we have is to anticipate, looking at the potential of the player, as long as we can persuade the other party.

“There are talks and rumours, it is true that the biggest European clubs have expectations, but no proposal has come to us.”
