Manchester United favourites to sign Matthew Bondswell

Jose Mourinho has prioritized signing a left-back

Manchester United are looking to bolster their squad this summer after falling behind Manchester city in the Premier League this season. Their priority is to overhaul their defense as the club are expected to sell few players.

Despite having the most clean sheets and the second best defensive record in the Premier League this season, Jose Mourinho is not happy as he had to rely on auxiliary full-backs Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young and failed to settle on a consistent central defensive axis due to injuries.

Luke Shaw is expected to leave the club this summer after failing to establish himself under Jose Mourinho, He has been criticized by the manager this season and fallen behind Young on the pecking order.

The Red Devils have already been linked to Alex Sandro, Danny Rose and Kieran Tierney. But they could also move for a talented youngster.

Manchester United have emerged as favourites to land England youth international Matthew Bondswell from Nottingham Forest, according to the Daily Mail.

Bondswell is very highly rated at the club and they have already offered him a professional contract. But both of them have failed to agree on personal terms so far.

Southampton have also shown interest in the 16 year old left-back but United have stepped in with their own offer and expected to win the race for him.

Forest would still command compensation for the pacy youngster who has also represented Nottinghamshire Schools at 200m and was crowned British Junior Champion at the triple jump in 2016.
