Manchester United target Valencia ace Jose Luis Gaya

Jose Mourinho have abandoned plans to sign Alex Sandro

Manchester United are looking to bolster their squad in the transfer window after an underwhelming campaign last season, not winning a single silverware.

The Red Devils are expected to be very busy in the summer transfer window and has started the transfer window in an excellent way. They have already completed two signings, teenage full-back Diogo Dalot has signed from Porto, while a £52.5 million fee has been agreed with Shakhtar Donetsk for Brazil international Fred.

Despite having the most clean sheets and the second best defensive record in the Premier League last term, Jose Mourinho was not happy as he had to rely on auxiliary full-backs Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia.

The Club’s priority is to sign new full backs as Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw both have been linked with a summer exit. Young and Valencia both going to turn at the start of the next season and don’t have many years left to play at the highest level.

The English side have sorted their right-back position with the signing of Dalot and are now eyeing a move for a new left-back.

They have been linked with a host of left-backs in the past couple of weeks but the Portuguese manager identified Juventus star Alex Sandro. He has established himself as one of the best in his position in the past couple of season and has been linked with a summer exit.

But the Turin side want £50 million for the Brazilian which is deemed too steep by the Premier League giants.

Manchester United have given up on their pursuit of Sandro and will turn to Jose Gaya instead, reports The Mirror.

The Spaniard came through the ranks of the La Liga side and made his senior debut for the club back in 2012. He has made more than 100 appearances for the club since then.

The 23-year-old is rated at closer to £30 million after signing a new contract at Valencia and is considered a much cheaper option than Sandro.
