Manchester United Turn To £60m Portuguese After Koulibaly Disappointment

Manchester United are in the market for a centre-back and they will not stop until they get their hands on a top player.

Recently, their bid for Napoli ace, Kalidou Koulibaly got rejected as the Serie A outfit putting up a price tag of £150m for the 27-year-old. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been discouraged from going after the Senegal international but he seems to have shifted his attention towards Ruben Dias.

The Benfica defender is one of the hottest transfer targets in Europe and will be close to £90m cheaper than Koulibaly. Dias is also only 22 years old with the potential to break out into a star in the Premier League.

Reports value him at around £60m after the Portuguese outfit rejected Lyon’s £30m bid last summer. Solskjaer is determined to improve the defensive ranks after the woeful final stretch of the 2018/19 campaign which drew in talks of his own sacking.

The Norwegian boss can expect to have around £250m at his disposal this summer but he is unwilling to spend more than on half of it on a single player. United have also been linked with Swansea City speedster, Daniel James, Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt, Crystal Palace fullback, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Leicester City’s Harry Maguire and Youri Tielemans.
