Michael Carrick Opens Up On His Manchester United coaching Role

Michael Carrick has expressed his love for his coaching job at Manchester United.

The decorated midfielder hung up his boots in 2018 but instead of going on a holiday he surprised everyone as he accepted Jose Mourinho’s offer to join his coaching contingent.

Since then the 37 year old has had an immense contribution to United’s rebuilding process and new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also seemed to be a big fan of the former United player.

During his long stint at the club, the midfielder had been a rather quiet but influential figure at the club but his coaching role has seen him breaking the mould as he is often seen giving advice to a player in the midst of a match.

“I was ready to finish playing, I’d had enough,

“Luckily I could go out when I was ready. Not many people get into that situation where they can decide for themselves and fortunately I was ready. In the last couple of years I just knew. I wasn’t at the level I wanted to be at.

“I had just done the same thing for so long and it was time. I always had in my mind about having time away from football for the kids and the family, but there was no way I was walking away from this club when the opportunity came along. I am so glad that I made that decision and I am here.”
