Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar has dismissed the possibility of a move to Manchester United in January. The player has been closely linked with a move to the Premier League club but he has now said that he is not going anywhere.

According to the Thursday edition of Tuttosport, as cited by ESPN, the player has said that he is staying at San Siro. The Red Devils have been in pursuit of a top quality defender in the last couple of seasons to beef up their squad for the future and Skriniar has been on the top of their target list for some time now.

However, with the player making it clear that he is not going to move out of Inter Milan, it comes as a huge blow for Manchester United, who were in the hope to find a good enough defender to stabilise their backline. The likes of Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly have fallen down the pecking order under the new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has been using the duo of Victor Lindelof and Phil Jones to do the defensive duties since his arrival at the club.

Despite the fact that both of the players have done a decent job for the Red Devils in the last few matches, the addition of a top class centre back like Skriniar would have added a lot of strength to the United defence.
