Ruben Amorim said that Manchester United are a long way from where they should be following their fourth Premier League loss of the year. Everton triumphed at Old Trafford for the first time since December 2013, and manager David Moyes celebrated his first league victory in the away dugout on the 18th attempt.
United squandered an opportunity to climb into the top five for the third time in a row, having drawn their previous two away games against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham. Amorim almost confessed United’s little undefeated streak of five games was a false dawn.
“I know where we are at the moment,” Amorim remarked. “I have that feeling during this run.” That’s something I usually talk about. We are not at the place where we should be to compete for the best spots in the league.
“We have a lot to accomplish, and we must be excellent to win games. We weren’t ideal today.” Again, everyone has been admiring our development over the last five weeks. I usually say the same things.
Amorim frustrated by lack of intensity
Ruben Amorim expressed worry about Manchester United’s performance in their 1-0 loss to 10-man Everton. “There was a lack of comprehension of every circumstance in the game, followed by quality near the box. The most crucial factor, however, is intensity. You can feel it the moment we start the game. We can tell when we are at our peak intensity and when we aren’t, and you can’t win games like this.”
“We need to play the game differently. Sometimes we can do it. Sometimes we have a terrific run of outcomes and performance, but then we drop the ball, and we need to win every time.”
“We can’t change the past. We can’t cry right now and think about the last one. We need to prepare and improve several things. The most essential thing is to finally comprehend that in order to win games, we must play them with strong intensity.
