Ander Herrera has insisted they need to tighten their grip in the first half following their 2-1 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League.

United showed much grit and solidity in a well oiled display despite a sloppy first half. Bournemouth were the better team in the first 45 minutes as United looked hapless in front of Cherries challenge.

Callum Wilson put the home side ahead at the stroke of the 11 minute but Anthony Martial reduced the deficit in the 35 minute. United pressed hard after the interval and Marcus Rashford tapped in the winner in the added time to ensure they remain in touching distance of the top six.

Herrera who came on in the second half said, “I think we were much better in the second half. They were better in the first.

“We cannot give the first 25 minutes away. It makes our games more difficult. How we played in the second half was fantastic, but we want to be a ‘whole game’ team.

“I think we have to speak about it in the dressing room, we have to improve the first 20, 25 minutes. Against Everton we were good, but we need to be a team who performs well in the whole game.”
