Marco Verratti dubbed as the ideal replacement for Michael Carrick.
The talented Italian midfielder has gone on to feature in 349 matches for Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain since his arrival from Pescara in 2012.
He has established himself as one of the most versatile midfielders in Europe.
He has 29 trophies to his name and also added the European Championship title earlier this year in his trophy cabinet.
Former Man United defender Ashley Young is a huge admirer of the 28-year old midfielder and claims he would perfect replacement for Michael Carrick.
United are desperately in need of a defensive midfielder with the likes of Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips heavily linked.
Young said to BBC Live: “The Michael Carrick type has been missing for years. They haven’t gone out and replaced Michael Carrick. Don’t get me wrong – Fred and McTominay are good players but I don’t think there’s a Michael Carrick around.
“I was watching the PSG v City game yesterday and I think Marco Verratti is the closest one and nobody’s gone out to test the water to try to sign him.
“I think he would be an unbelievable signing for Manchester United.”
