Atletico Madrid To Snap Up Manchester United Playmaker

Manchester United attacking midfielder Juan Mata could be on his way to La Liga as Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in the player.

The 30 year old’s existing contract is set to expire at the end of this season and the playmaker is yet to agree on a new deal. Following United’s recent dip in form, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to sanction a number of departures in the next summer and Mata could be one of them.

Game time has been very limited for the former Valencia player and he doesn’t seem to be on the wish list of the Norwegian manager. Since his £37 m arrival from Chelsea Mata has been an influential figure over the course of the last few years but since the induction of Solskjaer Mata hasn’t featured regularly.

Barcelona are believed to be pretty keen on the player but the Madrid giants are ready to step up in their pursuit. A number of players with the likes of Diego Godin and Lucas Hernandez are poised to leave the club in the summer and Atleti do have the funds to afford his wage bill.
