Bale backed to join United

Tim Sherwood has backed Manchester United to sign Gareth Bale.

“I think he’s still a young man, he’s so fit, still quick,” Sherwood said on beIN SPORTS, before referring to United’s well-documented interest.

“They don’t want him, quite clearly. I would love him to come back to the Premier League and go to one of the giants in the Premier League.

“And I’m sure there’s a club I can think of, up north, plays in red, who would love to have him there.”

“When he was at Tottenham a lot of time the game was revolved around Gareth,” he continued.

“He was the main man, it was a very pragmatic approach and let Gareth wander where he wants.

“He’s obviously had [Cristiano] Ronaldo there who takes the mantle at Real Madrid, so his nose would have been pushed out a wee bit.

“I think he’s misunderstood somewhat. He’s not a guy who will go out and mix with the rest of the squad.

“He likes his family time, he’s very personal, and I’m not saying Ronaldo’s not, but Ronaldo’s out there, he’s a superstar and he puts himself forward.

“Gareth won’t do that, Gareth just wants to play football.

“Without doubt he loves football, I just hope he would fall in love with it again and don’t go to China.”
