According to sources, Barcelona star Xavi has expressed his desire to take Ruben Amorim’s place at Manchester United. After United’s dismal start to the season, Amorim is under tremendous pressure at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are now 14th in the Premier League after losing to Brentford on Saturday. They have only won two of their first seven games. With just 33 points from 34 games since taking Erik ten Hag’s place last November, Amorim has yet to win back-to-back league games.
A sizable portion of Manchester United supporters think Amorim ought to be fired, and former England midfielder Joe Cole shared this view following the team’s 3-1 loss to Brentford.
According to reports, United has created a shortlist of potential successors for the former Sporting manager, indicating that they are at least considering firing Amorim.
Sir Gareth Southgate, Oliver Glasner, and Andoni Iraola have all been connected to the Old Trafford position since the Brentford loss.
Ex-Barcelona boss would jump at chance to replace Amorim
At Old Trafford, current manager Ruben Amorim is facing increasing pressure. He was present when Brentford defeated his team 3-1 on Saturday at the Gtech Community Stadium.
United is now three points above the relegation zone and in 14th place in the Premier League after the loss. Despite United’s lack of competition in Europe, Romano has maintained that Xavi is “studying” England’s top division and would join them.
Gareth Southgate, Andoni Iraola, Oliver Glasner, and Fabian Hurzeler have all been linked to United, while Amorim has lost 17 of his 33 Premier League games as the Red Devils’ manager.
However, the former manager of Sporting Lisbon has stated that he is not considering his future. “I am not that kind of guy,” he stated in a statement following the Bees’ defeat. “I am never worried about my job.
