Brighton defender Gaetan Bong has said that Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba was “clever” to get the penalty against the Seagulls in their last match in the Premier League. The Frenchman won the spot-kick and converted it to bring up his eighth goal of the season and lead the Red Devils to their sixth consecutive win in the last six outings in the Premier League.

Speaking about the incident after the match, the left-back said, “He was clever. We were fighting and he just put his foot between me and him and he went straight down.”

Bong added, “I think it was clever from him. He is a quality player and he is on form at the moment. Well played from him but I was a little bit upset. I spoke to the referee and I said he went easy on the floor. But he made the decision and I have to accept it.”

Manchester United are yet to lose a match under their new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he becomes the first manager in the club’s history to win six Premier League matches on a trot since taking charge after the Red Devils experienced a disastrous start to their season under their former manager Jose Mourinho.
