The Premier League Player of the Season award has been given to Bruno Fernandes. The shortlisted David Raya, Gabriel and Declan Rice of Arsenal, Erling Haaland and Antoine Semenyo of Manchester City, Igor Thiago of Brentford, and Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest were all defeated by the Manchester United midfielder.
The FWA Footballer of the Year title had already been secured by the Portugal midfield player. Nico O’Reilly of City was named Young Player of the Season. O’Reilly has been rewarded with a position in England’s World Cup squad after contributing vital goals and establishing himself as a vital member of City’s team this season.
Fernandes has tied the record of 20 assists in a Premier League season set by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. Additionally, he has eight goals. In Sunday’s season-ending match between United and Brighton, he still has a chance to beat the record for assists.
This season, United has qualified for the Champions League and achieved third place in the league. Fernandes, 31, has never won the prize before. Since Nemanja Matic won it in 2010–11, he is the first United player to do so.

Fernandes has already won the FWA Footballer of the Year title, and after assisting United in securing Champions League football, he now adds another honour to a remarkable season.
He is the eighth player at United to receive the honour; other winners include Wayne Rooney, Peter Schmeichel, Dwight Yorke, Ruud van Nistelrooy, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
