Goalkeeper David De Gea of Spain has spoken candidly about his contract negotiations with Manchester United

Since arriving at Old Trafford for £18.9 million from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011, the 32-year-old has had a fruitful 11-and-a-half-year tenure.

However, with his current deal scheduled to expire in June, the Red Devils have begun contract extension talks, and De Gea is optimistic that the conversations will conclude in a positive manner. As he approaches Alex Stepney’s record of 539 appearances in goal for the club, the Spaniard then expressed his intention to finish off his career in the red half of Manchester.

The international goalkeeper from Spain has been outstanding for Erik ten Hag’s team this season, recording eight shutouts in 17 Premier League games. Inspiring Manchester United to a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth on Tuesday, David De Gea kept his third straight clean sheet, moving him three clear of Peter Schmeichel’s club record.

Manchester United moved to fourth in the Premier League rankings after beating the Cherries, level on points with third-place Newcastle United but ahead by one match.

The English champions, who have won the title 20 times, have also won all four of their most recent games in all competitions, which marks their greatest streak of victories since also picking up four in September.
