Dele Alli To Miss Manchester United Clash Due To Joke Post On Virus

Dele Alli will face a suspension regarding a post he made on social media – and won’t be able to play in the match against Manchester United in the Premier League return.

He put a video on Snapchat which seemed to be making fun of Asian man and making jokes about the virus spread – and this lead to the FA slapping on a suspension for one game. Alli has also been given a fine of £50,000.

Also, since he violated the FA Rule E3, he will be required to take an education course, conducted in person.

“In response to the FA decision, I would like to apologise again for any offence caused by my behaviour,” Alli said in a statement to the club’s website.

“It was an extremely poorly judged joke about a virus that has now affected us more than we could ever have imagined. I’m grateful that The FA has confirmed that my actions were not racist because I despise racism of any kind.

“We all need to be mindful of the words and actions we use and how they can be perceived by others.”

Jose Mourinho spoke for Alli regarding his post and defended him.

“Of course I spoke with him about that,” Tottenham head coach Mourinho said. “But for me it was quite an easy conversation because he was very sorry about, let’s say, the mistake,” said Mourinho.

“But it was never his intention to hurt, it was not his intention to offend. He immediately regretted it, he immediately recognised.

“For me that’s the best feeling that he can show, and to have to have the humility to apologise is remarkable, because sometimes young people make mistakes and they don’t realise they make the mistakes.”

“The last thing that Dele is, is anything connected with racism or disrespect.”

So it seems like it’s definitely an advantage for United before their match against Jose, with Alli out of the picture.
