PSG star Angel Di Maria hinted that Louis van Gaal was the reason behind his failed spell at Manchester United.

Di Maria joined Manchester United from Real Madrid a few weeks after guiding Argentina to the World Cup final in Brazil. His transfer fee of £59.7 million was the highest paid by a British club at the time.

there were plenty of expectations from Di Maria but his performances for Manchester United were ridiculously under-par as he scored only 4 goals and provided 12 assists in 32 matches.

Di Maria eventually left Manchester United for PSG in 2015 and has since flourished at the Paris outfit. So far, the 30-year old has scored 57 goals and has provided 60 assists for PSG.

Speaking about PSG’s Champions League last 16 encounter against his former club, Di Maria said, “We still have matches before facing Manchester! Manchester changed with this new coach, they lost no match. But we must think of ourselves and nothing but ourselves! If we do things well, everything will be fine.

I only stayed one year, it was not the best time of my career, or rather I was not allowed to spend my best time. There were complications with the coach of the time. But thank God, I was able to come to PSG and demonstrate again who I was.”

Di Maria has done pretty well for PSG this season so far. In 25 appearances across all competitions, Di Maria has scored  7 goals and has provided 8 assists.

Di Maria will hope to put on a good performance for PSG on Saturday as they take on Guingamp. PSG will be eager to avenge last week’s Coupe de la Ligue quarter-final defeat.
