Manchester United looked poised for a welcome boost when Diogo Dalot fired them ahead against West Ham United on the hour-mark but a late equaliser condemned them to a frustrating 1–1 draw at Old Trafford.

“We had the game there” — Dalot frustrated as United settle for draw against West Ham

Dalot, however, made no attempt to sugar-coat what went wrong.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, he admitted that once United scored, the players “got anxious” and lost control of the game.

“We are disappointed. At 1-0 with 30 minutes to go we have to control the game more, especially at Old Trafford,” he said.

“We cannot get as anxious as we got after the goal… maybe we got sloppy with the ball possession.”

Dalot added that when the breakthrough finally comes, the team should build on it not lose composure.

“You fight for 60 minutes to score a goal, and when it happens you should keep doing the same things,” he said.

“Even more control, longer possession so we can have more dominance.”

Instead, United allowed West Ham time to breathe. A corner in the 83rd minute resulted in a flick-on and a rebound finish from Soungoutou Magassa that punished United’s lapses.

That failure to secure three points stings especially at this stage of the season. Dalot did not hide the frustration of coming so close only to drop yet another home result:

“We had the game there… It is a good feeling … but I would change it for the three points.”

United had the chance to climb into the likely Champions League places with a win but now they remain stuck in mid-table mediocrity.

For Dalot, and the squad, the message is clear: mentality and consistency must improve fast if they are to salvage their ambitions this season.
