Ed Woodward Decides To Continue Backing Solskjaer Post Anfield Defeat

Ed Woodward is going to stick to his plans of backing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer despite the most recent 2-0 defeat to Liverpool.

Manchester United have dropped 30 points behind their Merseyside rivals even after spending £140m in the summer.

This is their seventh season without a title challenge and fans are growing frustrated with how the club is being run. Solskjaer is not a popular figure amongst the club faithful but somehow, his job is still safe in the eyes of the chairman and the board.

The Norweigian’s approach towards signing young British talents is being supported by the United hierarchy. Reports claim that Woodward is ready to support Solskjaer in the summer even if the Red Devils miss out on a top four finish.

It looked like a golden opportunity to close the gap when Chelsea fell 1-0 against Newcastle United. However, it was far too difficult for this United team to overcome the league leaders. Liverpool absolutely hammered the Red Devils with shots last Sunday, only failing to score more than two by slim margins.

With Marcus Rashford joining Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay on the injury table, it has become imperative for the club to make new signings. United are hoping to bring in Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani this January.
