David de Gea’s time at Manchester United is running out.

Despite being one of the best in the Premier League, Erik ten Hag could look to replace De Gea in the summer window.

The 31-year-old has been the standout player for United this season and has been at the club since 2011.

The Spaniard’s contract expires in the summer and there are talks about whether the new manager would extend his deal.

Former Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips believes United squad needs a revamp and could let De Gea go in the summer.

He said to Football Insider: ‘In my opinion, I think they should be moving him on. I think with the new manager coming in, that would be the best course of action.

‘You get to a stage in your career where you’ve been at a club a long time, like Rashford and De Gea, and things need to change. They need fresh faces through the door – and maybe they could even go down a younger route.

‘I think De Gea is on borrowed time at United along with many other players. It’ll be interesting to see if that contract materialises when Ten Hag comes in.’
