Casemiro was sent off yesterday against Southampton.

The Brazilian midfielder was shown a red card for a fanatic tackle on Carlos Alcaraz in the 32nd minute.

It is the second red card the former Real Madrid has received in his debut season in the Premier League.

Hence an extra game will be added to his suspension which means he will the next four domestic games.

United were held to a goalless draw in their hopes of challenging the top two spot in the league standings.

Manager Erik Ten Hag seemed angered by the decision and criticised the inconsistency of Premier League referees.

“Well, what I think is the inconsistency (means) players don’t know any more what is the policy,” the United boss said.

“I think it’s all across. I mean, you see yesterday, Leicester-Chelsea, then VAR is not coming on the line.

“Today it’s coming on the line and then it’s two penalty situations, but they don’t come on the line.

“I think especially the first one was for me clear and obvious handball, so what is the policy?”
