Erik ten Hag gives an injury update on Luke Shaw and Alejandro Garnacho.
The Man United boss is hopeful defender Luke Shaw can return soon from injury while Tyrell Malacia takes in his place in the first-team squad.
Shaw came off in the 37th minute of the 1-0 win against Brentford and will miss United’s home game against Everton on Saturday.
‘You have to see over days how [Shaw] progresses,’ Ten Hag told a press conference on Friday.
‘Sometimes you underestimate this injury, but I think Luke did quite well and knows his body. He went off at the right moment before getting more damage. So in this moment we are quite positive about him returning quickly.’
Teenage sensation Alejandro Garnacho has been sidelined with an ankle injury back in March and was initially expected to be out for the remainder of the season.
But Ten Hag reassures that the Argentina youth international will have a role to play in the coming weeks.
‘We have something in our heads, but I don’t want – he will definitely be back before the end of the season,’ ten Hag said.
‘I think he will be in the final stages, but I don’t want to bring so much pressure on the medical and Garnacho to set a date when to be back.’
