Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester United will make Ederson Silva their first signing of the summer transfer window, with manager Michael Carrick securing the Brazilian midfielder from Atalanta.

The Italian transfer expert revealed on June 6 that both clubs have now completed all documents for a €45 million (£39m) package deal.
Romano wrote on X: “Manchester United and Atalanta have now completed all documents for €45m package deal for Ederson.
All done and player set to sign later on this summer but all agreed with Ederson since May. First signing: 100% confirmed.”
The 26-year-old defensive midfielder will sign a four-year contract at Old Trafford, with United holding an option to extend the deal by an additional year.
Despite the agreement, neither United nor Atalanta have made an official announcement, leaving some fans concerned. However, Romano insists there is no reason to worry.
According to The Sun, the delay stems from standard international transfer procedures.
Ederson joins from an overseas club, meaning Italy’s transfer system and FIFA’s International Transfer Certificate (ITC) clearing system will not process his registration with the English FA until July 1.
“Ederson has agreed to become a United player, but he cannot legally be registered on their squad list until July,” the report explains.
United supporters can therefore expect the move to become official early next month, with Ederson set to become Carrick’s first major acquisition as the club looks to strengthen its midfield options ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
