Fiorentina have accelerated their pursuit of Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee, submitting an official €5 million loan proposal as they scramble to replace Moise Kean before the transfer window slams shut.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Viola have tabled a season-long loan offer that includes a purchase option, with negotiations ongoing between the Serie A side, Manchester United, and the Dutchman’s representatives.
The two clubs are currently thrashing out the exact structure of the buy clause as Fiorentina sporting director Fabio Paratici leads the charge to bring the 25-year-old back to Italy.
The urgency stems from Moise Kean’s imminent departure, with the Italian striker on the verge of joining Champions League-bound Como in a deal worth up to €40 million.
Fiorentina view Zirkzee as the ideal candidate to lead their attack, hoping to reignite the form that earned him a £36.5 million move to Old Trafford after his breakout campaign with Bologna.
However, the Dutch international’s time in England has proven disastrous. Zirkzee accumulated just 645 minutes across the 2025/26 season, managing only two goals and one assist.
He made just five Premier League starts and found himself behind Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko in the pecking order at United.
With three years remaining on his contract, Manchester United are prepared to negotiate his departure.
While Zirkzee remains the primary target, Fiorentina are keeping their options open. According to Firenze Viola, Everton’s Beto stands as the main alternative should the Zirkzee deal collapse.
The Portuguese striker, who previously impressed at Udinese, carries a €25-30 million valuation and earns approximately €2 million per season.
Unlike Zirkzee’s mobile, build-up style, Beto offers a more traditional centre-forward profile with a proven goalscoring record.
With the transfer deadline looming on 1 September, Fiorentina are racing against time to secure their attacking reinforcement.
