Former United Legend Backs United To Carry Out Big Money Defender Signing

Former Manchester United player Gary Pallister advises United to sign a defender this transfer window.

He feels that Manchester United would benefit from signing a defender that would relieve some pressure on Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof – who haven’t been in the best form lately anyway.

By signing a new powerful defender, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side could maybe finish higher up the Premier Table league than they did this season.

“It’s hard, you know, the centre-half situation,” Pallister told Compare.bet.

“Victor Lindelof who has come in and done well, [Eric] Bailly who was doing okay before he had that really bad injury and he’s come in and out of the side since lockdown.

“But I think it’s a position that Ole might still be looking at and bringing in another dominant centre-half, but it’s so hard to find.

“You look at Virgil Van Djik who came in and had such a massive impact at Liverpool, can you find someone like that?

“I quite like the look of Ake but obviously City have signed him, because he looked like a real athletic centre-half who was comfortable on the ball and always looking to break out of the back four and get forward, I would like to see someone like him come into the squad.

“But I think it’s a position that Ole will be looking at, you know, we’ve got a few people coming back.

“Chris Smalling is coming back, Rojo’s coming back, Phil Jones is there, Bailly, Lindelof, you can’t keep all them happy so there’ll be some of them leaving and Ole’s just got to decide which.

“On top of that, I think he will try and bring in another centre-half.”

Recently, United lost one of their defender targets – Leicester City’s James Maddison. Who could be next on their radar?
