Turkish champions Galatasaray have launched an ambitious attempt to lure Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes away from Old Trafford with a financial package that would double his current wages.

According to reports from The Telegraph, Galatasaray are preparing a transfer package worth approximately €50 million (£42.8 million) including add-ons.
Club president Dursun Özbek is personally driving the pursuit, demonstrating the seriousness of Istanbul giants’ intentions.
The financial incentives on offer are staggering. Galatasaray have proposed a four-year contract worth around €21 million net per season, plus a significant signing bonus.
The total package would effectively double Fernandes’ current take-home salary at Manchester United.
However, Manchester United’s response has been emphatic and unwavering. The club considers Fernandes absolutely central to their plans and has no intention of negotiating his departure.
The timing makes United’s stance particularly significant. With Michael Carrick preparing the team for a return to Champions League football, losing their captain and primary creative force so late in the transfer window would create a gaping hole that would prove nearly impossible to fill before the deadline.
Crucially, Fernandes has given the club no indication that he wishes to leave. His former €65 million overseas release clause has also expired, meaning United face no contractual pressure to sell.
The Portuguese playmaker enjoyed a record-breaking 2025/26 campaign, setting a new Premier League benchmark with 21 assists in a single season.
At 31, Fernandes remains determined to compete at the highest level and help United win major silverware.
While Galatasaray’s salary offer is undoubtedly attractive, United’s resolve appears unshakeable. Unless Fernandes himself pushes for an exit, Old Trafford’s stance seems certain to remain firm.
