Harry Maguire advised on transfer to Manchester United

Former Liverpool and Chelsea star Glen Johnson has advised Harry Maguire to put pressure on the Leicester hierarchy in order to force a move to Manchester United.

The Red Devils have monitored the 26-year-old all summer and are unwilling to match £90m asking price slapped by the Foxes.

“If United have come calling again, they know that Maguire wants to go and, as long as he gets that message to Leicester, I’m sure that deal will happen,” Johnson told talkSPORT.

“If I’m Leicester, I’d take £80m now anyway,” he added.

“I think it’s a great deal for everyone, all three parties, I can’t see why it won’t happen.”

“When he first broke onto the scene, due to his size and certain bits in his game, he’d look a bit clumsy.”

“But I think he’s matured and certainly learnt the game over the past few years.”

With the deadline day for Premier League clubs just a week away, United have signed only Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James this summer. They are also pursuing the signature of Paulo Dybala that would see Romwlu Lukaku going to Juventus in a straight swap deal.
