The National News reports that Harry Maguire, a center back for Manchester United, has agreed to a one-year contract extension with the Red Devils, with the option to extend it by an additional year.
Despite interest from other teams, the Manchester United star has not committed his future to the Old Trafford club, even though his contract expired at the end of the current campaign. At the end of the season, Maguire was sought after by three Premier League teams, four Serie A teams, and one Turkish team as a free agent.
But the Red Devils were eager to retain one of their most seasoned centre backs for a minimum of one more campaign. This season, the 33-year-old has made 20 appearances for Man United in all competitions, and he has been a key player under boss Michael Carrick.
As they get ready for life without Maguire, the team is keeping an eye on Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite and will speak with his reps in February.

Additionally, Man United hopes that both 19-year-old Englishman Ayden Heaven and 20-year-old Frenchman Leny Yoro will develop into future stalwarts in their starting lineup. Maguire is eager to play more frequently in the next season and has shown no signs of slowing down.
In 2019, the England international became the most expensive defender in the world when he moved from Leicester City to Manchester United for £80 million. He has consistently shown his worth, and the Red Devils might benefit from his expertise when they play in Europe again the following season.
With seven games left in the season, Manchester United is presently ranked third in the Premier League standings. If they finish the season well, they will qualify for the Champions League.
According to United Director of Football Jason Wilcox, Harry embodies the mindset and perseverance needed to succeed at Manchester United. He is the ideal professional and provides our young, aspirational team with priceless leadership.
