Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits it hurts watching Liverpool win the title

United boss, Solskjaer congratulated Jurgen Klopp and his players as they were the deserving champions.

Liverpool ended their 30-year drought by winning the Premiere League and have a 23-point lead over Manchester Unity which suggests a period of dominance could be established.

“Any team that wins the Premier League deserves it. It is a hard league to win. Credit to Jurgen Klopp and his players,” Solskjaer told his press conference on Friday.

“But every time you see anyone else lift a trophy, it hurts. That’s the feeling everyone associated with Man Utd. We want to get back to winning ways. That is our challenge.”

United under former manager Alex Ferguson collected 13 league titles in 20 years between 1993 and 2013, but Solskjaer believes it will be difficult for Klopp’s side to emulate that sustained success at Anfield.

“The run of titles under Sir Alex Ferguson will not be easy for anyone to copy, he was a master of staying at the top. Our challenge is to make sure it is not 26 years or more before we win it.

“We will do everything we can to shorten the distance or go past them.”
