Jaap Stam Advised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer To Be More Ruthless This Summer

Jaap Stam has called on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to show some bravery in the transfer market as he feels Manchester United need more quality players to challenge for the major honours next season.

Stam featured in the 1999 treble reunion match alongside with a host of star players with the likes of David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Teddy Sheringham, Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke and current United manager Solskjaer.

The Red Devils dominated the game as they blanked Bayern Munich legends 5-0 at the Old Trafford. Stam who used to play in the heart of the United backline has advised the Norwegian to take a more ruthless approach.

“I think we definitely could do with some more quality up front, in midfield and the back four as well,

“You want a squad that is competitive towards each other. Everyone needs to push each other to get the maximum out of everyone – to achieve something.

“As manager and as a club you need to have a look at that. After the last couple of seasons and how everything is going, I think it is good to re-evaluate everything in the team.

“At the end of the day the most important thing is to achieve the goals you set out, sometimes you need to make hard decisions to do that.”
