Jesse Lingard Hoping To Secure A Champions League Spot Next Season

Jesse Lingard insists Manchester United must invest all their resources to secure a Champions League place for the next season.

Barcelona proved to be a no match for United as a Lionel Messi brace and a Philippe Coutinho goal ended their European dream at the Nou Camp. The Red Devils are also struggling to break into the top four and would be hoping to start it afresh when they travel to the Merseyside this Sunday to take on Everton.

Despite having a good run in the Premier League under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer United suddenly have become very vulnerable and have already lost twice in the last four games against Arsenal and Wolves.

Lingard said, “The Champions League is a big competition and we’ll be fighting to get back in.

“We’ve got a big week ahead.

“I thought we dominated in the first 15 minutes,

“We had a couple of chances and the game could have gone differently if we’d put them away.

“That’s football. Chances in these big games are massive and if we take them it’s a different game.

“We were always going to be underdogs coming into the game, but we had to back ourselves and believe and, like I said, for the first 15 minutes if it had gone our way it would have been a different game.”
