Jose Mourinho backed to get things right at Old Trafford

Manchester United lost two consecutive games in the Premier League

Jose Mourinho was appointed as Manchester United manager back in 2016, taking over the charge from Louis Van Gaal. He guided the team to win League and Europa League, which ensured their return to the Champions League.

The Red Devils finished second in the Premier League behind Manchester City last season, their highest ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. They also reached the FA Cup final but were beaten by Chelsea.

The manager wanted quality additions during this summer transfer window after signing the likes of Nemanja Matic, Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Paul Pogba etc in the the past transfer windows. Diogo Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant joined the squad this summer.

But the the former Blues manager wanted more signings, especially a right sided winger and an experienced centre-back. But the club failed failed to sign anyone before the transfer deadline.

The Premier League giants didn’t have a good start in the Premier League this season. After winning the opener against Leicester City, they have lost two consecutive games against Brighton and Tottenham.

The manager has come under a lot of fire for the two defeats and there has been reports of trouble behind the scenes.

United legend Bryan Robson has backed Mourinho to get things right at Old Trafford and feels he will need some time to fix the things.

“It’s too easy. The minority of fans in clubs will be asking for the manager’s head after a few bad results and it’s often they speak the loudest,” he stated to MUTV as quoted by Goal.

“The track record that Jose has holds up. After three games, you don’t talk about sacking the manager, you encourage and back him.”

“What I’d like to see is Jose picking two centre halves he trusts and see them for a run of games,” he added.

“We need two defenders who know each other properly. Like Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic and others but the centre halves have also always been in the team. It would be nice to see that for a run of games and get clean sheets.”
