Jose Mourinho insisted that he is happy with his squad ahead of the new season

The Red Devils have completed three signings this summer

Manchester United prioritized bolstering their squad in the transfer window after an underwhelming campaign last season, not winning a single silverware. They finished second in the Premier League, 19 points behind Manchester City.

The Red Devils secured three signings during the transfer window, teenage full-back Diogo Dalot from Porto, while a £52.5 million fee agreed with Shakhtar Donetsk for Brazil international Fred and Lee Grant from Stoke City.

It was expected Jose Mourinho would add more players before the transfer deadline and were linked to host of players. It was speculated that atleast one more player would join the club on the last transfer day but they failed to sign anyone.

Toby Alderweireld, Willian, Harry Maguire, Ivan Perisic, Jerome Boateng and Diego Godin were all linked with moves to Old Trafford.

The manager has expressed his frustration with lack of signings. However, he has insisted that he is happy with his squad ahead of the new season and is ready to enjoy the 2018/19 campaign.

“I have my players and I like my players. I like to work with my players, one lie repeated 1000 times is still a lie, but the perception of people is that it’s true,” Mourinho said as quoted by Goal.

“When you repeat 1000 times that my relationship with my players is not good, a lie repeated 1000 times is still a lie. I like my players and my group.

“I enjoyed last season, the fight to finish where we finished and to manage the best position this club has had in five years. I’m going to enjoy this season.

“I know the words you want me to say or not to say. It depends on the music, but words don’t come easy [at this stage].”

“By the end of November or December you don’t need words, you’ll see by then which teams are candidates to win the Premier League,” he added.

“At the moment, words are not important. Let’s play football and see by the end of November or December. You’ll see then which teams are candidates.”
