Jose Mourinho explained he had to name the squad for the Bournemouth match without Romelu Lukaku as the Belgian injured himself in the training on Friday.

Anthony Martial started up front for the Red Devils and continued his scoring streak as he netted the equaliser after Callum Wilson drew the first blood for the home side.

The match seemed to be heading towards a drab draw but a very late winner from Marcus Rashford earned a second consecutive win for the Red Devils in the Premier League.

The result helped United to rise to the 7th spot and it would help them in keeping pace with the top six in the Premier League table.

Lukaku wasn’t in the starting lineup in the 2-1 win over Everton and is facing an enormous task to be fit before the crucial way tie with Juventus in the next week.

The Belgian forward has been going through a rough patch and needs to be back amongst the goal to find his scoring boot back.

Mourinho said, “In training yesterday, after the press conference, he felt something that needs to be studied in the next couple of days.

So Lukaku has not come and we decided to start with Alexis (Sanchez).”
