Intermediaries have put Julian Nagelsmann’s name up for the Manchester United position, and TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal that a Bundesliga-based manager is also now firmly in the running.
Michael Carrick is the caretaker manager of Manchester United, and he has performed admirably since taking over. The 44-year-old has an outstanding 85.7% win rate with six victories in seven games thus far, and the Red Devils are well on their way to qualifying for the Champions League the following season.
Even if he is now the best contender for the position, we are aware that INEOS, the club’s decision-makers, are still considering their alternatives and are not yet prepared to give him permanent control.
Carrick is in the box seat, but other candidates are still being considered. TEAMtalk can tell that, in addition to Nagelsmann, the manager of the German national team, other candidates are expressing their opinions on the possibility of accepting the position.

Nagelsmann has been a constant target for English teams despite just being 38 years old. In 2023, he was terribly close to taking over as manager of Chelsea but ultimately decided to coach the German national team instead.
