Key Manchester United Players Absent From Training Ahead Of Barcelona Tie

Ander Herrera, Eric Bailly, Nemanja Matic and Antonio Valencia were noticed to be absent during Manchester United’s training session ahead of Champions League tie against Barcelona.

The Red Devils are due to host Ernesto Valverde’s men for the opening leg of the Semi-final draw on Wednesday.

United veterans Herrera, Valencia and 2016 signing, Bailly missed the last match against the Wolves which they lost 2-1. All three were injured at the time but has now been ruled fit, as per reports.

Matic was only present on the benches of the last Premier League fixture but he too was notably absent from the Aon training grounds on Tuesday morning.

Alexis Sanchez, however, made the cut after recovering from a knee injury that he picked up from the Southampton game five weeks back. Marcus Rashford’s ankle issue seems to have healed as he was noticed next to his teammates as well.

Whether the in-form Englishman will start the fixture against the Blaugrana is still unclear at this point. Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku are expected to start up front with Jese Lingard rumoured to fill in the right.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has overcome a lot of injuries to get the team up to this point of the European competition. The Norwegian is expected to be pressed tactically with some of his key players out against such quality opposition.
