According to reports, Kobbie Mainoo has stated his wish to join Napoli on a permanent basis since Manchester United is unwilling to allow him to go.
Darren Lewis claims that Kobbie Mainoo has expressed to Manchester United his wish to go permanently to Napoli. Although the Red Devils are aware of the player’s wish to temporarily leave the team, they are not ready to approve a loan or permanent departure.
After losing to League Two team Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup, Manchester United has had a challenging week. Prior to the match, there were serious doubts over Kobbie Mainoo’s immediate future because Ruben Amorim had decided not to employ the midfield player in the Premier League season’s first few games.
After the Fulham match, Amorim told the media that he thought Mainoo was Bruno Fernandes’ backup. Given the fact that the Portuguese star hardly comes off the pitch during games, many saw through the problems of Mainoo receiving consistent minutes in this club.
Napoli confident of Kobbie Mainoo Man Utd transfer
The two-man midfield used by new manager Ruben Amorim, however, has eliminated such possibilities, and Mainoo’s playing time has been reduced as Bruno Fernandes has taken over the creative position in the pivot. Consequently, he is thinking about leaving Old Trafford for other opportunities.
In light of this, Sacha Tavolieri, a writer for Sky Sports, reports that Napoli is very confident that they can make a bid for Mainoo and that negotiations are under way with the Red Devils to compel a transfer.
As demonstrated by his loan request on Friday morning, Mainoo wants to leave the Red Devils, and Tavolieri says that a deal is just a matter of time.
While current United striker Rasmus Hojlund is reportedly headed to the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona after being shut out of Amorim’s first team roster, Mainoo’s move to Naples would allow him to join up with former United midfield teammate Scott McTominay and possibly form a quartet of former Red Devils.
