Michael Carrick, Kieran McKenna and Mark Dempsey

Bryan Mbeumo’s recent performances have Manchester United worried, as his spot in the starting lineup is now in doubt. Despite having a great start under Michael Carrick, the 26-year-old has had a difficult run of form lately and hasn’t scored in his previous six appearances.

Concerns were heightened by the Cameroonian international’s obvious frustration following his withdrawal during United’s 3-1 victory against Aston Villa on March 15. Mick Brown, a former head scout for Manchester United, told Football Insider that Mbeumo needs to work hard to restore his form and shouldn’t get carried away.

His response has been identified as a possible problem, even if there are currently no worries regarding his attitude or long-term future ahead of the summer transfer window. Mbeumo has been a regular in Carrick’s squad since Brown told Football Insider after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations that he would be a significant help.

Mbeumo’s Cameroon international withdrawal

If Bryan Mbeumo hadn’t been pulled, he would have been traveling to Australia for his nation’s first international friendly on Friday during the March break. In the overall context of the present season, Mbeumo would have had to travel thousands of miles back and forth for two pointless friendly with Cameroon.

The Manchester United star may now stay at the Carrington training complex, though, and work on his form and fitness among the other first-team players. But due to his recent decline in performance, there have been calls for Amad Diallo or Benjamin Sesko to take his spot in the starting lineup following the international break.

Man United is also concerned about the forward’s recent performances and his reaction to being benched, even though he has been encouraged to go back to his best. “Bryan Mbeumo at Man United is causing some concerns,” Brown said to Football Insider. “He hasn’t been playing at his typical level in recent weeks, and it’s always going to be concerning when players have such declines in form.
