Journalist Graeme Bailey claims that Manchester United hopes to reunite with James Garner, a midfielder for Everton, next summer. During the most recent transfer window, the Red Devils’ main goal was to strengthen their attacking unit. Along with defender Diego Leon and goalie Senne Lammens, they also acquired Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko.
Bailey (via United in Focus) asserts that the Manchester giants are considering a free move for Garner when his contract expires at the end of June, with the goal of bolstering the midfield department in the future.
Under Toffees boss David Moyes, Garner has seen a positive change in his career. Given his skill and ability to play a variety of positions, the Red Devils think their academy graduate would make a valuable addition to the team.
In January or the summer of next year, the Red Devils are anticipated to sign a top defensive midfield player. Earlier this year, Carlos Baleba of Brighton & Hove Albion was the top target, but Ruben Amorim’s team was too expensive for a possible transfer.
James Garner now has chance to emulate the best player
Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace, who is valued at around £80 million, has recently been linked to the club. According to United, when the transfer market reopens in January, they can convince the Eagles to approve his move for about £60 million.
In spite of this, United might desire greater depth and talent in the holding midfield area. When his contract expires next summer, Casemiro, who is no longer in his prime, may be freed on a free transfer. Garner would be a great addition.
Playing both left-back and midfield this season, the 24-year-old has grown under Moyes’ tutelage. In the Premier League this season, he has won over 60% of his duels and completed 88% of his passes. Additionally, Garner has made three tackles, three clearances, and five recoveries per game. With two goal contributions, he has contributed.
The midfield player may be enticed to return to Old Trafford on a free transfer since he is in the best stage of his career. The key question is still whether he would be willing to take on a smaller role given that he won’t be a consistent starter. Under Amorim’s guidance, the high-profile acquisition is most likely to make the Red Devils’ starting lineup.
