A source claims that Manchester United is attempting to prevent a rising Argentine star from joining Real Madrid, despite the fact that the Red Devils are in negotiations with him.
Two of the largest clubs in the world, Real Madrid and Manchester United, are constantly searching for star players. The Red Devils and Los Blancos are eager to bolster their squads during the summer transfer window and aim for championship success the following year.
In addition to aiming to acquire well-established players for instant success, Manchester United and Real Madrid also search for up-and-coming talent in South America.
Madrid signed Brazilian striker Endrick in December 2022 before bringing him to the Santiago Bernabeu last summer, while Manchester United completed a deal for Paraguayan teenager Diego Leon earlier this year.
Franco Mastantuono is another South American talent who may soon be traveling to Europe. One of Argentina’s most promising young players, the River Plate midfielder has made a name for himself in Marcelo Gallardo’s squad.
Mastantuono sends message to Man Utd over £38m summer transfer
In recent days, United has reportedly shown the most concrete interest, according to the Argentine newspaper Infobae. However, it is said that the Old Trafford powerhouses will have a difficult time landing the teenager.
According to the report, River Plate has no plans to sell Mastantuono unless the player indicates that he wants to move on. Additionally, a club would have to fully fulfill the player’s €45 million (£38 million) release clause.
In contrast, Mastantuono must ignore the commotion and keep his feet firmly planted if he is to reach his unquestionable potential, according to River Plate head coach Gallardo.
“He’s taking his first steps, so we have to support him,” Gallardo said to reporters. His financial stability and the passion he inspires at such a young age should not lead us to believe that we should sell him. He needs to be protected.
