Manchester United on alert as Erik ten Hag appears set to call it quits at Ajax Amsterdam

During his time with the Eredivisie giants, the Dutchman has established a good reputation, guiding them to multiple titles.

He is one of the most in-demand managers in the game today, and he is being considered as a possible candidate to take over as permanent manager at Old Trafford in the summer.

The newest news about the Dutchman comes after Marc Overmars resigned from Ajax for sending improper messages to female club employees.

This has cast doubt on ten Hag’s future at the club, and Verweij believes he will not be in charge next season. The 52-year-old is one of three contenders fighting for the position of manager at Manchester United.

Other contenders include Mauricio Pochettino and Ralf Rangnick, and it remains to be seen who the club ultimately picks.

The PSG boss has struggled to make an impression in France, while Rangnick is having difficulties at Old Trafford.

On paper, Ten Hag appeared to be the logical choice next season. In terms of pure managerial talent, ten Hag should be Man United’s go-to man next summer.

He has demonstrated not just the tactical aptitude demanded of a top-level manager, but also the capacity to consistently grow a team, both of which the Red Devils sorely require.
