Manchester United is reportedly preparing a bold January transfer window strategy for Chelsea star Andrey Santos. The Red Devils are keen to add Santos and three more Premier League players to their six-man wishlist as midfielders.
Chelsea is reportedly worth more than £60 million after rejecting a summer approach of that much from the Saudi team Al-Qadsiah for the Brazilian. According to talkSPORT, the 21-year-old is now the Red Devils’ ambitious transfer target.
According to reports, United made enquiries about Santos during their summer negotiations with Chelsea for Alejandro Garnacho. Santos has made nine appearances for the Blues this season following an incredible loan with Strasbourg, Chelsea’s sister club, last season.
Chelsea claims Santos is not for sale, but United will be alert if the west London team decides to release him. Santos is one of six midfield players that United is watching as Ruben Amorim looks to strengthen his squad.
Man Utd want to sign the best player in the world from Chelsea
Amorim wants his team to have more speed and athleticism, especially given the uncertainty surrounding the long-term prospects of Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, and Bruno Fernandes. As a result, United is reportedly “open” to adding two midfielders in 2026.
Most of United’s top targets won’t be available until the summer, and players like Anderson and Wharton are unlikely to make decisions about their futures until after the World Cup. However, a midfielder is anticipated to be a priority for United in the winter.
After apparently realising that United’s summer interest had contributed to his subpar start to the season, Baleba is also believed to have had discussions with Brighton in which he outlined his commitment to the team.
According to reports, Santos was first mentioned in the early negotiations for Chelsea to sign Alejandro Garnacho. However, the Blues have subsequently turned down a hefty offer from Saudi Arabia for the 21-year-old and are trying to cling onto him.
