Chris Wheeler of The Daily Mail claims that Alejandro Garnacho is worth more than Marcus Rashford as the Manchester United pair enter the January transfer window with their futures at Old Trafford on the line. Garnacho’s season has been frustrating for a number of reasons, including alleged issues off the field and inconsistency. He and Rashford were left out of Ruben Amorim’s matchday squad for United’s comeback victory over Manchester City in the Derby (December 15), which ended in a 2-1 victory.
Despite being one of the Red Devils’ top players the previous season, the 20-year-old Argentine winger has had a difficult season. In 24 appearances in various tournaments, he has managed eight goals and four assists. During the summer, Manchester United may let go of a number of well-known players, and Garnacho might command a premium price. He is a homegrown player who has three years left on his Old Trafford deal.
A potential exit for Garnacho is one unexpected move heading into January
Garnacho’s value is really higher given his larger transfer cost and lesser salaries, despite all the commotion around Rashford. With three and a half years left on a massive contract, United could sell him for more money and avoid the issue of paying it off.
The Argentina winger, who was once thought to be invincible under Ten Hag, is not as well suited to Amorim’s 3-4-3. Although it is still improbable that United will trade him, a number of circumstances would at least force United to examine any bids. With very few exceptions, almost everyone is for sale at the proper price due to United’s worsening difficulties.
The PSR balance sheet shows that homegrown players like Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Kobbie Mainoo are worth about four times as much as their teammates because they represent 100% profit.
