In the fierce struggle to recruit Antoine Semenyo, Manchester United has emerged victorious, surpassing fierce opposition from Premier League heavyweights Newcastle United and Arsenal. The Red Devils’ determination to bolster their team after a difficult league run is demonstrated by this thrilling development.

There is a pressing need for new players following Manchester United’s 2-0 loss to West Ham United, which dropped them to 16th position in the standings and sparked a passionate cry for change. Even with these obstacles, Old Trafford is still a prestigious location for elite athletes.

According to people familiar with the situation, Manchester United is now in a strong position to sign Bournemouth’s star forward, Antoine Semenyo, in addition to maintaining interest in Wolves’ Matheus Cunha. Under manager Andoni Iraola, the 25-year-old has been a revelation this season, scoring 11 goals and dishing out seven assists while displaying his versatility on both flanks.

Man United emerge as leaders in Semenyo race

Although Alejandro Garnacho is a homegrown player and is thought to be available for sale due to Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), United wants reinforcements in many areas. It is thought that if the Red Devils win the Europa League and advance straight to the Champions League league stage, their chances of acquiring Semenyo will increase.

In 40 games across all competitions this season, the Bournemouth star has scored 11 goals and provided seven assists while playing on both the left and right flanks.

Last year (2024), he signed a long-term extension that will keep him on the south coast until June 2029. Despite having three goals in 27 games for Ghana, Semenyo will not be participating in this year’s Africa Cup of Nations because his nation failed to qualify.

Premier League rivals Newcastle and Arsenal have also expressed interest in the versatile offensive player, who can play on both flanks. Nonetheless, it is believed that Amorim’s team is in the driver’s seat to sign Semenyo, who has a 2029 contract with Bournemouth.
