Manchester United have launched a £69 million bid to sign Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez, according to reports.

The 22-year-old Spaniard has emerged as a top target for manager Ruben Amorim as the club looks to strengthen its midfield ahead of the new Premier League season.
Lopez, a product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, has impressed with his creativity and work rate, contributing 19 goals and 11 assists in over 80 appearances for the Catalan giants.
Despite his potential, he has often been used as a substitute, starting just 12 La Liga matches last season as Barcelona clinched the title.
Reports suggest Lopez is open to a move to Old Trafford, attracted by the prospect of a bigger role in Amorim’s rebuild.
United have already signed attackers Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko this summer, but Amorim wants more technical quality in midfield to compete with rivals like Arsenal, who they face in their Premier League opener this Sunday.
Barcelona’s financial struggles could force them to consider United’s offer, though Lopez recently stated his desire to stay, saying, “I want to stay here—it’s my dream”.
However, with the club needing to balance their books, a £69m deal may be too good to refuse.
If completed, Lopez would add energy and flair to United’s midfield, complementing Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo.
His versatility—capable of playing centrally or on the wings—would also give Amorim tactical flexibility.
With the transfer window still open, United are pushing to finalize the deal quickly.
Fans will be watching closely to see if Lopez becomes their fourth major signing of the summer as they aim to bounce back from last season’s disappointing 15th-place finish.
