Sesko would be a good replacement for Ronaldo next summer.
According to transfer insider Dean Jones, Manchester United scouts are busy in finding good talents and they will keep Benjamin Sesko on their radar after the Red Bull Salzburg star has gained ‘a lot of supporters’ among the recruitment staff at Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag took over as Man United boss following the conclusion of last season, will be handed opportunities to freshen up his squad in January and next summer.
Although Sesko is due to join RB Leipzig in a £55million transfer at the end of the campaign after an agreement was reached in August.
As per the reports of The Telegraph, the 19-year-old is high on the Red Devils’ list of targets as ten Hag looks to continue his rebuild by welcoming a new striker to Old Trafford.
The report suggests Sesko has been on Manchester United’s radar since breaking into Salzburg’s first team and they could up the ante as they prepare for life without Cristiano Ronaldo, who told the hierarchy he wanted to leave during the summer.
Manchester United football director John Murtough met Sesko’s agent after a scouting mission but could not strike a deal last summer.
The journalist believes the Red Devils will continue keeping tabs on the frontman despite being set to link-up with Bundesliga side Leipzig next summer.
Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s definitely worth keeping an eye on. He’s got a lot of supporters within the United recruitment staff, who feel that he’s the right fit for what they’re looking for.
“I think that, ultimately, is what’s probably going to help him stay on the radar.”
Ronaldo is likely to leave Manchester United next summer, despite there being an option to extend the agreement by 12 months, and Sesko would be a good replacement even if he is not a superstar name at this stage.
